How to Make Lemonade Playdough:
First, mix the dry ingredients.
Add flour, salt, and cream of tartar to a bowl. Mix, mix, mix.
If you are using our printable playdough recipe in the Summertime Bundle, show your little one how to use the easy to read recipe. Even those who can’t read can help find the numbers, look at the picture for the ingredient, and remember what step they are on!
Mixing is a great skill for preschoolers to practice, so encourage them to get involved.

Next, add the wet ingredients.
Add the oil to the dry ingredients and mix.
Cut one lemon in half and squeeze out all the juice. Add water to the lemon juice..
Add the lemon juice and water mixture to the dry ingredients and mix.
Add more flour if necessary to reach the right consistency. It should feel soft like playdough and not sticky.
Add color and scent to the lemonade playdough.
When the playdough is at the right consistency, add your yellow food coloring and lemon essential oil if using. Knead the dough together until the color is evenly distributed throughout.
While the lemon essential oil is not “essential” (haha) to the end product, lemon juice itself doesn’t create a strong lemon scent for the playdough. If you are looking for very lemony playdough, you will definitely want the lemon essential oil.

Enjoy!
